Prison visitation system. Android terminal app for inmate-side video visitation (prisons prohibit personal phones — app runs on facility-managed devices). Admin backend for booking approval, time slot allocation, and visit policy. WebRTC audio-video sessions with lifecycle management (create, join, leave, timeout) and compliance recording. Face recognition access control for visitor verification.

Problem

Prisons prohibit personal mobile phones. Inmates need scheduled video visits with family under strict time limits, approval workflows, and compliance recording.

Solution

Android terminal app on facility-managed devices for inmate-side video calls, admin backend for booking/approval/time slot management, WebRTC for real-time audio-video with session lifecycle control (create/join/leave/timeout), face recognition for visitor identity verification at facility entry.

What I Learned

High-security environments impose strict constraints: no personal devices, audit trails for every action, rigid time limits. WebRTC session lifecycle management (join/leave/timeout/recording) must be rock-solid for compliance.
